Why Meditate?

I never understood why some people meditate. I thought it was just some weird thing that extreme Buddhists, Hippies and New Agers did. After some reading and experience I’ve found out that it is an amazing gateway to more peace, joy, clarity and potential than I ever imagined.

The way that I’ve experienced it, meditation does two main things. One is that it quiets our mind allowing for more clear, confident thinking and a more present state of being when we come out of meditation.

The second is that it connects us to our own inner being, divine spirit, Higher Self, God, universal energy or whatever you feel most comfortable calling it. All the same thing, so I’ll use those words interchangeably. When we connect this way, that uneasy feeling in the pit of our stomach leaves and we feel more peaceful and joyful. We feel more centered or grounded and positive energy and creativity can more easily flow through us.
